Shocking News: First Aid Day at Certol

Shocking news from Certol: On the front lines for workplace safety, Certol employees learn when it is safe and appropriate to squeeze, hit and shock their co-workers to save a life!

Of course we are talking about the onsite American Red Cross First Aid and CPR course presented March 30th. The course required active participation and demonstration of the correct procedures to Check, Call and Care – the mantra for responding to emergencies. The course included the correct methods for treating airway obstructions (here is where the squeezing and hitting came in, otherwise known as the Heimlich maneuver), and the use of an AED device (automated external defibrillator) as part of overall CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).

Nine of Certol’s employees completed this onsite workplace training offered by the American Red Cross. They learned how to properly administer CPR, and how to use the AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

Certol has also purchased a brand new AED, a device that automatically analyzes heart rhythms and advises the operator to deliver a potentially lifesaving shock if necessary.

The Red Cross First Aid training is a 2 year certification.
